Clinical significance of cough peak flow and its non-contact measurement via cough sounds: A narrative review

This narrative review examined cough peak flow, which is commonly used for evaluating cough strength. Covered in the review were methods of measurement of cough peak flow, cough-related factors that influence cough peak flow, and the significance of cough peak flow evaluation in various clinical scenarios (eg neuromuscular disease, prevention of aspiration pneumonia). Also covered was a novel, non-contact cough strength prediction method using cough sounds recorded using a smartphone.
