Identification of ROBO2 as a potential locus associated with inhaled corticosteroid response in childhood asthma

This genome-wide association study was undertaken to identify novel genetic variants associated change in FEV1 following 6 weeks of treatment with ICS in 166 pediatric and young adult asthmatics of European descent; following the discovery phase, association testing between the identified markers and asthma exacerbations was attempted in ICS-treated children and young adults from different populations. As part of the study, % predicted FEV1 was measured prior to ICS initiation (in ICS-naïve subjects) and 6 weeks after ICS initiation using a Vitalograph COMPACT spirometer.
