Novel insights into the genetics of smoking behaviour, lung function, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (UK BiLEVE): A genetic association study in UK Biobank

This study examined the genetic causes of smoking behavior and lung health using data from participants in the UK Biobank. Overall, 50,008 samples from six cohorts were examined: heavy smokers (mean 35 pack-years) with low, average or high FEV1 and never smokers with low, average or high FEV1. Lung function data were collected as part of the UK Biobank on two or more occasions, obtained using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
