Reduction of total lung capacity in obese men: Comparison of total intrathoracic and gas volumes

This study examined total MRI-assessed intrathoracic volume at full inflation in 14 obese and 7 normal weight/slightly overweight middle-aged men, and compared the results with measurements of TLC. As part of the study, participants underwent seated lung function testing (FEV1, SVC) using a portable Vitalograph spirometer.
