Thursday, May 11th, 2023

This randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, 3-way crossover study evaluated the efficacy of single doses of nebulized lidocaine, lidocaine throat spray, and placebo in 26 adult patients with refractory chronic cough. The primary endpoint was cough frequency in the 10-hour period following treatment. Secondary endpoints included cough urge and frequency, while hourly cough rate up to 5 hours post-treatment was included as an exploratory endpoint. Cough was objectively assessed using the Vitalograph VitaloJAK 24-hour ambulatory cough recording device.
