Short-term comparative study of high frequency chest wall oscillation and European airway clearance techniques in patients with cystic fibrosis

Disease Areas:
Cystic fibrosis
Device Types:
Spirotrac,In2itive

This study compared the short-term effects of high-frequency chest wall oscillation with frequently used airway clearance techniques in 29 cystic fibrosis patients who were admitted to hospital with an acute exacerbation of pulmonary infection. The primary endpoint of the study was the wet weight of sputum expectorated during a treatment session. FEV1 was measured immediately before and 30 minutes after each treatment using the Vitalograph In2itive handheld spirometer. Data were analyzed using Vitalograph Spirotrac software.
