Oscillometry Clinical Trial Services
Oscillometry is a quick and easy pulmonary assessment. At Vitalograph, we provide comprehensive oscillometry clinical trial services including over-reading.
Vitalograph's Oscillometry Services
The Vitalograph oscillometry solution enables a site to easily gather and integrate highly accurate airwave oscillometry data with other clinical endpoints such as spirometry and FeNO. Results are centralised and benefit from easy over-reading, assisting regulatory compliance, data reliability, and successful trial outcomes.
Why Use Oscillometry in Clinical Trials?
Oscillometry is particular effective for clinical trials with a focus on assessing respiratory function. Its benefits include:
Early detection of small airways
Oscillometry is highly sensitive to changes in the small airways, which can be missed by traditional tests like spirometry. This makes it particularly useful in trials studying conditions like asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease (ILD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
Non-invasive and effortless testing
Oscillometry is a non-invasive test performed during regular, tidal breathing, meaning participants do not need to exert effort, as required in spirometry. This makes it ideal for vulnerable populations such as children, elderly, and patients with neuromuscular disorders.
Complementary to spirometry
While spirometry is a standard tool for lung function testing, it primarily focuses on larger airway function. Oscillometry provides complementary data by assessing the resistance and reactance in the small airways. Using both methods together gives a more comprehensive assessment of respiratory function.
Oscillometry is also valuable where: small airway dysfunction is prevalent, trial length is relatively short and spirometry is unlikely to show a significant difference; imaging technique is required but frequency is limited for continuous monitoring; or effort-independent testing is needed to control overall data quality across all sites.
Vitalograph's Oscillometry Solution
The Vitalograph tremoflo C-100 uses airwave oscillometry to provide detailed information about small airway dysfunction. Results are seamlessly captured by the Compact Medical Workstation and centrally collated with other respiratory clinical endpoints. Each measurement provides comprehensive insights into subtle lung function changes due to disease progression or treatment effects.
Comprehensive Over-reading
Oscillometry data is over-read by a specialist team per the latest guidelines, ensuring complete confidence in the results obtained.
This service includes:
Over-reading that adhere with latest ATS and ERS guidelines.
The review of every test, and not by automated processes.
A standardised approach which helps to minimise bias introduced by variabilities
Quick turnaround time providing opportunity for re-evaluation of subjects as needed.
Timely identification and resolution of issues, preventing them from escalating into larger problems that could compromise the trial's validity and outcomes.
Customised re-training for sites having data quality issues
Key Endpoints Measured
