This review examined the benefits and limitations of aerosol therapy delivered via an inhaler or a nebulizer in patients with COPD. The review discussed the importance of assessing patient suitability for a particular inhaler device, and provided a brief overview of available tools to help with device selection. This included the Vitalograph Aerosol Inhalation Monitor, which the authors described as a "simulator that assesses multiple aspects of a patient’s inhaler technique, including canister activation, inspiratory flow rate, breath hold time, and inhalation time".
