Mouth and Orofacial Health Indexing and individualized Treatment (MOHIT) plan for patients with brain injury: Study protocol for experimental and observational trial

This paper described the design of an observational cohort study that will examine a new oral health tool and treatment plan, as compared with an existing care plan, for reducing oral health issues in hospitalized individuals with acquired brain injury. A comprehensive clinical orofacial health assessment will be undertaken as part of the study, including measurement of PEF using the hand-held, non-invasive Vitalograph Asma-1 electronic respiratory monitor.
