Enabling paediatric cystic fibrosis testing in Egypt

Great news from Egypt where Vitalograph Alpha Spirometers are enabling staff in Cairo University to diagnose and monitor children with cystic fibrosis.

CF has only recently been recognised as a disease in Egypt and there is very poor public healthcare, they have managed to secure TriKafta* via Vertex but the lung function testing infrastructure is also poor and they came to us to ask for a donation of spirometers, which we provided last year. The donation of the spirometers will improve access to spirometry testing, and provide accurate and reproducible results for the healthcare professionals to inform patient respiratory care. We were delighted to have met ATS Fellow, Dr Samya Nasr at ATS Congress 2025 in San Francisco.

*Trifecta is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) in people aged 2 years and older.
