Vitalograph sponsors practical workshop to tackle underdiagnosis at IPCRG World Conference

Vitalograph is proud to highlight its recent participation in the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG) World Conference in Tunis, marking the organisation’s 25th annual global gathering. The event brought together leading clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world, united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for patients with respiratory disease.

A key focus of this year’s conference was addressing the global challenge of underdiagnosis in chronic respiratory diseases. Despite increasing awareness, many patients remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, limiting access to timely and effective treatment. Primary care providers are eager to improve this situation, but often face practical challenges when determining which objective testing methods are feasible and appropriate in varied clinical settings.

In response to this need, Vitalograph sponsored a practical workshop designed to equip primary care professionals with the knowledge and confidence to implement effective diagnostic strategies. The session focused on helping participants better understand the range of objective testing solutions available, and how to select the most appropriate tests tailored to both their clinical environment and the individual needs of their patients.

The workshop was facilitated by an expert panel of international leaders in respiratory care:

  • Miguel Román Rodríguez (Spain)

  • Anders Østrem (Norway)

  • Björn Stridh (Sweden)

  • Valériane Leroy (France)

Their combined expertise provided attendees with valuable insights into real-world decision-making and practical implementation of diagnostic tools in primary care.

Vitalograph’s Charlene Mhangami played an active role throughout the workshop, offering hands-on guidance in spirometry and other respiratory function tests. Her engagement ensured participants could deepen their understanding of how to effectively use diagnostic equipment and integrate testing protocols into routine clinical workflows.

Charlene was also available throughout the conference, where delegates had the opportunity to explore Vitalograph’s respiratory diagnostic solutions and discuss strategies for successfully embedding lung function testing into their everyday practice.

Reflecting on the significance of the IPCRG World Conference, Helen Venn, Vitalograph’s Chief Science and Strategy Officer, shared:

“It’s a privilege to be in Tunis at the IPCRG’s World Conference and 25th year of meeting. I find it inspiring to be amongst such talented and passionate clinicians and to hear about the many research projects, on small and large scales, driven by practitioners unified by their dedication to improving outcomes for their patients. Chronic respiratory disease is one of the most serious health problems globally, yet it is sorely under prioritised in terms of research funding, so it is especially important to support meetings like this one. It puts the part that Vitalograph plays firmly into focus. Providing diagnostic solutions that are reliable and easy to use is really important because, simply put, these professionals need to be able to focus firmly on their patients.”

Vitalograph’s involvement in the IPCRG World Conference underscores its ongoing drive to advance respiratory health through innovation, education, and collaboration. By supporting initiatives that empower primary care professionals with practical tools and knowledge, we continue to play a vital role in tackling the global burden of chronic respiratory disease.

Through partnerships like IPCRG and continued investment in user-friendly diagnostic solutions, Vitalograph remains committed to enabling earlier diagnosis, improved patient management, and better health outcomes worldwide.
