A randomised clinical trial of feedback on inhaler adherence and technique in patients with severe uncontrolled asthma

Disease Areas:
Asthma
Device Types:
4000 Series,Asma-1

This randomized controlled study evaluated whether visual (bio)feedback on the features of inhaler use enhanced inhaler technique and adherence in patients with severe uncontrolled asthma, as compared with intensive education with correction of errors using a checklist score. The primary endpoint was the rate of actual inhaler adherence; secondary endpoints included a pre-defined assessment of clinical outcomes based on PEF, ACT score, AQLQ score, and inhaler adherence. PEF was measured using the Vitalograph Asma-1 device, while inhaler adherence and technique was measured using the INCA device.
