New PFT Operations Center in Kansas City improves supply of Vitalograph respiratory diagnostic solutions to US customers
Vitalograph and Morgan Scientific are pleased to announce the successful completion of Project Sunflower, a strategic project that has seen significant investment across the companies’ US sites in Lenexa, Kansas, and Haverhill, Massachusetts. The move comes as they continue to strengthen their US commercial footprint in the advanced pulmonary function testing solutions field.
Project Sunflower comprised of a substantial structural investment, including the creation of a new PFT Operations Center in Lenexa as well as the recruitment of additional specialized staff. The new PFT Operations Center will centralize and streamline QC testing, and the distribution of PFT solutions to customers in the United States and Canada.
“Vitalograph is committed to providing the highest quality products and services to the US market. In doing so, they have invested considerable financial and human resources in establishing this new PFT Operations Center,” explained Gareth Morgan, Executive Vice President, Vitalograph US and President, Morgan Scientific – Vitalograph’s US division dedicated to enabling respiratory diagnostic excellence for customers in that market.
“A primary goal is to bring Vitalograph’s solutions closer to its customers and ensure a consistent supply chain. The new PFT Operations Center symbolizes the combined power of Vitalograph’s product development and manufacturing prowess with Morgan’s experience in PFT product knowledge, implementation, and support in the United States. The new Center builds additional capacity which supports continued growth,” he continued.
Project Sunflower follows the September 2024 acquisition of Morgan Scientific by Vitalograph, which saw these two long-term partners further combine their expertise to deliver their advanced diagnostic solutions to the US market in an even more effective manner.
“Project Sunflower served as a catalyst for team building and the merging together of two historic companies dedicated to delivering the highest quality products and services in pulmonary diagnostics. The new organization that has emerged from this project is strongly positioned to deliver on its commitments to its current and future customers,” Dr. Morgan said.
The culmination of works under the Project Sunflower umbrella was symbolized this week by the delivery of ten VitaloQUBs and VitaloLABs, to Lenexa from the Vitalograph manufacturing facility in Ennis, Ireland via sea container. The VitaloQUB and VitaloLAB are key products in the comPAS PFT solutions portfolio.
With the new centralized PFT Operations Center refurbished and reconfigured, Vitalograph and Morgan Scientific can eliminate air shipment of products between the Irish and US facilities; thus, opting for more environmentally friendly and sustainable sea shipments.
Project Sunflower marks another successful milestone in Vitalograph’s 2022 ambitious growth strategy – exceeding its goal to triple its respiratory diagnostics business by 2026. The release of several new products, including VitaloQUB and VitaloLAB; partnering with the oscillometry company Thorasys; acquisition of a leading pulmonary function software manufacturer and PFT distribution company, Morgan Scientific; opening of a new office in Dubai; and, doubling its global workforce - reflects its commitment to be the global leader in respiratory diagnostics.
