Effect of high-intensity interval training in adolescents with asthma: The eXercise for Asthma with Commando Joe's (X4ACJ) trial

This randomized controlled study evaluated the effectiveness of a 6-month, field-based high-intensity interval training intervention in 155 adolescent asthma patients versus 461 healthy control subjects. Endpoints of interest included cardiorespiratory fitness, BMI, lung function, QoL, and disease control. FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, and FEF25– 75 were measured using the portable Vitalograph Alpha spirometer. FeNO was measured using the NIOX MINO device.
