Multicenter study of the COPD-6 screening device: feasible for early detection of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in primary care?

This multicenter study investigated whether pre-screening with the Vitalograph COPD-6 electronic respiratory monitor facilitated early detection of COPD, as compared with conventional spirometry, in primary care across Denmark. Included subjects (n=2990) were screened with the COPD-6 device and proceeded to diagnostic spirometry based on an FEV1/FEV6 ratio <0.70, FEV1 <80% predicted, or physician decision.
