Precision and accuracy of FEV1 measurements from the Vitalograph COPD-6 mini-spirometer in a healthy Ugandan population

Tuesday, January 25th, 2022

This cross-sectional study examined the accuracy and precision of the COPD-6 device for measuring FEV1, as compared with a diagnostic-quality spirometer, in 171 farmers from Wakiso District, central Uganda. The authors concluded that, subject to careful calibration checks, the COPD-6 “could be considered as an affordable way to conduct research on pulmonary function impairment in resource-constrained settings”.
