Air pollution metabolomic signatures and chronic respiratory diseases risk: A longitudinal study

This study prospectively examined the association between ambient air pollution and chronic respiratory disease, respiratory symptoms, and lung function using data from 171,132 individuals enrolled in the UK Biobank who were free of COPD and asthma at baseline and who had data on air pollution and metabolomics. As part of the UK Biobank, pre-bronchodilator spirometric measurements (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, PEF) were collected using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
