Cut-off value of FEV1/FEV6 to determine airflow limitation using handheld spirometry in subjects with risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

This study evaluated the best FEV1/FEV6 cut-off value for the detection of airflow limitation using a handheld spirometer, as compared with a conventional spirometer, in 290 individuals at risk of COPD (ie age >40 years, respiratory symptoms, and smoking history >10 pack-years). Handheld spirometry was undertaken using the Vitalograph COPD-6 device.
