Capsaicin-evoked cough responses in asthmatic patients: Evidence for airway neuronal dysfunction

Disease Areas:
Cough,Asthma
Device Types:
VitaloJAK,In2itive

This study examined capsaicin-evoked cough responses in 97 patients with well-characterized mild-to-moderate asthma versus 47 healthy control subjects. Endpoints of interest included maximum cough response evoked by any concentration of capsaicin (Emax) and the capsaicin dose inducing half-maximal response (ED50). Spirometry was performed using the Vitalograph In2itive spirometer, while cough was measured using the VitaloJAK cough monitor.
