Dietary intake of vitamin A, lung function and incident asthma in childhood

This study examined the relationship between intake of pre-formed vitamin A or pro-vitamin β-carotene in mid-childhood and lung function and asthma risk in adolescence; data were examined in individuals enrolled in ALSPAC, using outcomes from a food frequency questionnaire completed when participants were aged 7 years and lung function testing when participants were aged 15.5 years. Lung function (FEV1, FVC, FEF25–75) was assessed using the Vitalograph In2itive spirometer.
