Inspiratory muscle training improves lung function and exercise capacity in adults with cystic fibrosis

Disease Areas:
Cystic fibrosis
Device Types:
Wedge Bellows

This study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of high-intensity inspiratory muscle training on inspiratory muscle function, diaphragm thickness, lung function, physical work capacity, and psychosocial status in 29 patients attending an adult cystic fibrosis center. Lung function endpoints included FEV1, FVC, and FEV1/FVC ratio, as measured using the Vitalograph dry wedge spirometer.
