This prospective, longitudinal cohort study evaluated the association between air pollution and lung function in 3414 children aged 6–9 years attending 84 schools in London and Luton, England. The primary endpoint was lung function growth, as measured by FEV1. As part of the study, various baseline health assessments were undertaken, including measurement of pre-and post-bronchodilator lung function (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, PEF, MMEF) using a calibrated Vitalograph Alpha Touch spirometer.
