Measurement of parasternal intercostal electromyogram during an infective exacerbation in patients with cystic fibrosis

Disease Areas:
Device Types:
Wedge Bellows

This study examined the potential value of parasternal intercostal muscle electromyogram results as a non-volitional measure of change in respiratory function in 12 cystic fibrosis patients admitted to hospital with an acute chest infection. Lung function endpoints (FEV1 and SVC) were measured with patients in the seated, upright position using a Vitalograph Gold Standard wedge bellows spirometer.
