Patient-administered sequential spirometry in healthy volunteers and patients with alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency

Disease Areas:
Other
Device Types:
Wedge Bellows

This study examined whether volunteers and patients could perform self-administered sequential spirometry without loss of reliability and reproducibility, as compared with traditional laboratory spirometry using a calibrated Vitalograph wedge bellows device. The study included ten healthy volunteers who performed spirometry for 1 month and 10 emphysematous patients with ⍺-antitrypsin deficiency who performed spirometry twice daily for up to 2 years.
