Pharmacologic and clinical considerations of morphine

This book chapter outlined the pharmacology of morphine, along with its indications, dosage forms, efficacy, and side effects. A summary of recent clinical trials involving morphine was provided, including a trial that compared low-dose controlled-release morphine versus placebo for the treatment of chronic cough in patients with IPF. The primary endpoint of the trial was the percent change in coughs per hour, which was measured using the Vitalograph VitaloJAK cough monitor.
