This study evaluated the association between restricted sugar intake during the first 1,000 days after conception and the risk and timing of adult-onset asthma, COPD, and IPF, using data from 58,670 individuals enrolled in the UK Biobank who were born between 1951 and 1956 and who were exposed to varying durations sugar restriction in early life. The association between sugar rationing and individual lung function parameters was also assessed, based on FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, and PEF data collected at the UK Biobank baseline assessment using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
