This study used data from 4119 subjects enrolled in a longitudinal public health study in Sweden to evaluate whether a higher score on the Emphysema Severity Index was associated with an increase in all-cause, respiratory, and non-respiratory 10-year mortality. As part of the study, subjects underwent lung function testing using a calibrated Vitalograph In2itive spirometer with Spirotrac IV software.
