Effect of inhaled formoterol and budesonide on exacerbations of asthma. Formoterol and Corticosteroids Establishing Therapy (FACET) International Study Group

This randomized, double-blind study evaluated the effects of adding inhaled formoterol to both lower and higher doses of inhaled budesonide in 852 adult patients with asthma. The primary endpoint was the rate of severe and mild exacerbations of asthma; secondary endpoints included lung function, symptoms, and the need for rescue medication. PER was measured using a Vitalograph peak flow meter.
