Cough in Finnish elderly: Prevalence, risk factors, recurrence and healthcare use

This thesis described a study that investigated the prevalence and risk factors of acute, subacute, chronic, and recurrent cough, as well as the predictors of healthcare utilization for cough, in an elderly community-based population in Finland. As part of the thesis, objective outcomes of cough were discussed, including use of the Vitalograph VitaloJAK device, which was described as "a small, portable [device] which can record 24 hours of sound" that has "been validated and extensively used in large cough studies and [randomized controlled trials] for antitussives".
