A 1-year prospective study of the infectious etiology in patients hospitalized with acute exacerbations of COPD

This study examined the infectious etiology of 78 patients hospitalized with acute exacerbations of COPD with concomitant pneumonia. Follow-up of patients involved pre- and post-bronchodilator lung function testing at 2–3 months post-discharge using a Vitalograph spirometer.
