A cross-omics integrative study of metabolic signatures of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

This study examined to what extent metabolic changes in blood were related to COPD and lung function; the discovery sample of the study included in 5557 individuals enrolled in two large population-based studies in the Netherlands, while the replication sample included 12,205 individuals from different population-based studies conducted in the Netherlands, Finland, and Sweden. Across the different studies, lung function was measured using various devices, including measurement of FEV1 and FVC using a Vitalograph Alpha spirometer.
