Air pollution, lung function and COPD: Results from the population-based UK Biobank study

This cross-sectional study examined whether ambient air pollution was related to lung function and COPD in 303,887 subjects participating in the population-based UK Biobank cohort; also assessed were potential vulnerability factors for the relationships between air pollution and lung function and COPD. Pre-bronchodilator pulmonary testing was performed using the Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer in combination with Spirotrac software, which compared the reproducibility of each blow in order to provide two reproducible maneuvers.
