Assessment of inter-instrument reliability for dominant handgrip dynamometry and spirometry

Disease Areas:
Other
Device Types:
Alpha

This study examined the inter-instrument reliability of different dynamometers and spirometers commonly used in clinical practice in 113 healthy volunteers. At each of three study sites, lung function testing (FEV1, FVC, PEF) was compared with a local and reference device. Four spirometers were used in the study, including the tabletop Vitalograph ALPHA device, which was one of the reference devices. Per the authors, the ALPHA is "either mains or battery-powered and uses a disposable bacterial viral filter mouthpiece" and "uses the Fleisch-type pneumotachograph for measuring airflow during lung function testing".
