Asthma patients' inability to use a pressurised metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) correctly correlates with poor asthma control as defined by the global initiative for asthma (GINA) strategy: a retrospectiv

Disease Areas:
Asthma
Device Types:
AIM

This study examined the association between asthma control and the ability to use a prescribed pMDI in 3981 patients with asthma, as part of the Improving the Management of Patients Asthma and COPD Treatment (IMPACT) service. Inhaler training was undertaken using the Vitalograph AIM device, with education on inhaler technique provided after testing if needed. A ‘dummy’ pMDI (ie flowhead) was calibrated to the AIM device, with all flows having a tolerance of ±5 L/min.
