Bronchial mucosal IFN-alpha/beta and pattern recognition receptor expression in patients with experimental rhinovirus-induced asthma exacerbations

This study compared epithelial IFN-⍺/β and pattern recognition receptor expression at baseline and after experimental rhinovirus infection in 10 atopic asthmatic patients and 15 non-asthmatic, non-atopic control subjects. Bronchodilator reversibility following histamine challenge was measured using the Vitalograph dry wedge bellows spirometer.
