Low body mass index is associated with higher odds of COPD and lower lung function in low- and middle-income countries

This study examined the association between BMI and lung function outcomes and COPD prevalence in 12,396 individuals enrolled in studies conducted in fourteen low- and middle-income settings in Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, Peru, Uganda, and Uruguay. In one of the included studies, pre- and/or post-bronchodilator FEV1 and FVC were measured using the Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
