Pathophysiological factors in the relationship between chronological age and calculated lung age as detected in a screening setting in community-dwelling subjects

This study examined the relationship between pathophysiological factors and premature lung aging in 16,107 community-dwelling pharmacy customers in Germany. Included subjects provided information regarding demographic characteristics such as smoking status and the presence of airways diseases; in addition, the lung age of subjects was calculated using spirometric data (FEV1, FEV6) obtained using the Vitalograph COPD-6 device.
