Prevalence, symptom burden and under-diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in a lung cancer screening cohort

This cross-sectional study examined the association between symptoms, comorbidities, spirometry and emphysema, as a means of exploring the clinical significance of COPD and emphysema, in 986 smokers and ex-smokers aged 60–75 year-old enrolled in a lung cancer screening trial. As part of the study, patients underwent lung function testing using a handheld Vitalograph Micro spirometer.
