Questionnaires and pocket spirometers provide an alternative approach for COPD screening in the general population

This study examined the usefulness of a simple questionnaire in combination with measurement of PEF using the Vitalograph Asma-1 monitoring device to screen for COPD in a self-selected population of 5,638 adults in the United States. Subsequent diagnostic-quality spirometry was performed in participants with abnormal PEF values during screening.
