Respiratory effects of road pollution in recreational cyclists: A pilot study

This pilot study examined roadway exposure to particulate matter in 31 recreational cyclists in Reno, NV, United States, and whether exposure was associated with reduced pulmonary function. The primary endpoints were FEV1, FVC, PEF, and MMEF. Pulmonary function was assessed using the Vitalograph COMPACT spirometer, with a 3L syringe used for calibration checks.
