The magnitude of diving bradycardia during apnea at low-altitude reveals tolerance to high altitude hypoxia

Disease Areas:
Other
Device Types:
Spirotrac,COMPACT Medical Workstation

This study examined whether physiological defense mechanisms against hypoxia (ie the spleen response and the cardiovascular diving response) induced during apnea at low altitude could predict individual susceptibility to acute mountain sickness in 18 male and female subjects. VC was measured using the Vitalograph COMPACT spirometer.
