Diagnosing Asthma: Solving the Jigsaw Puzzle

The International Primary Care Respiratory Group published its latest Desktop Helper which is demystifying asthma diagnosis with a ‘jigsaw puzzle’ approach. The group suggests collecting and assembling pieces of clinical information to create a diagnostic picture, like making a jigsaw puzzle.

    About the presenter:

    Dermot Ryan qualified in UCD in 1977 completing his vocational training in Dublin in 1981. After becoming a partner in practice in the UK he became very interested in asthma and allergy. He was a member of the committee of the Primary Care Respiratory Society for some 12 years, during which time he established the first chair of Primary Care Respiratory Medicine at the University of Aberdeen and founded what is now the npj Primary Care Respiratory Medicine Journal.  He was a founding member of IPCRG in 2000 and is currently a director. He sat on two iterations of the SIGN/BTS Asthma guidelines. He is an honorary clinical research fellow at the University of Edinburgh and has authored or co-authored over 200 papers in peer reviewed journals
