Association of DNA methylation signatures with cognitive performance among smokers and ex-smokers

This study evaluated the association between salivary DNA methylation levels and cognitive performance in 56 current smokers and ex-smokers aged 25–55 years. To be eligible for inclusion, smokers must have smoked ≥7 cigarettes/day for ≥2 years and have an expired breath carbon monoxide concentration of ≥5 ppm, as measured using the Vitalograph BreathCO monitor.
