This prospective study evaluated the diagnostic value of repurposing existing pre-surgical assessments to identify airflow limitation in patients (n=110) with atrial fibrillation scheduled for catheter ablation. Pre-ablation assessments included an evaluation of pulmonary function (FEV1, FEV6, FEV1/FEV6 ratio); this was undertaken using handheld devices, including the Vitalograph COPD-6.
