Assessment of lung function by spirometry in transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients in a tertiary care center in Sultanate of Oman

This prospective cohort study evaluated the pattern of pulmonary dysfunction in 37 patients with asymptomatic transfusion-dependent thalassemia in Oman. Lung function testing (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, PEF, FEF25–75, FEF50) was undertaken using a calibrated Vitalograph COMPACT desktop spirometer.
