Is older age associated with COVID-19 mortality in the absence of other risk factors? General population cohort study of 470,034 participants

This study evaluated whether older age was associated with an increased risk of COVID-19 mortality in UK Biobank participants; results were analyzed in 469,596 subjects who were alive and in 438 subjects who had died because of COVID-19. As part of the study, lung function (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio) was assessed using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
