Transcriptome analysis reveals upregulation of bitter taste receptors in severe asthmatics

This study aimed to define global patterns of gene expression in leukocytes taken from children with severe, therapy-resistant asthma (n=17) and controlled asthma (n=19), as compared with healthy controls (n=18); also evaluated was receptor expression in separated leukocyte fractions taken from asthmatic adults (n=12). As part of the study, spirometry was performed using a Vitalograph In2itive spirometer.
