Mid-childhood fat mass and airflow limitation at 15 years: The mediating role of insulin resistance and C-reactive protein

Disease Areas:
Population study
Device Types:
In2itive

This study evaluated the role of insulin resistance and C-reactive protein in the known relationship between high fat mass levels at age 9–15 years and an increased risk of airflow limitation at age 15 years; the study included 2263 children enrolled in the UK ALSPAC study. Lung function (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio) was measured at 8 and 15 years using the Vitalograph In2itive spirometer.
