The use of a hand-held device (ASMA-1) for home-based monitoring of respiratory function changes in pediatric and adolescent patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy

This study evaluated the use of the Vitalograph Asma-1 device for home-based respiratory function monitoring (PEF and FEV1) in 64 children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy who received idebenone or placebo in a randomized controlled trial. Hospital-based spirometry was also performed using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer to measure FVC and PEF.
