Association of impaired lung function with dementia, and brain magnetic resonance imaging indices: A large population-based longitudinal study

Disease Areas:
Population study
Device Types:
Pneumotrac, Spirotrac

This study used data from subjects enrolled in the UK Biobank (n=308,534) to evaluate the association between restrictive or obstructive lung function impairment and the risk of dementia and MRI-based brain structural features. Additionally, the study examined the association between impaired lung function and MRI brain biomarkers relating to cognitive function in 30,159 UK Biobank participants. As part of the biobank assessments, lung function was measured using the Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
